Words: Drove early to Diamond Head, knowing that a triathlon may affect access. Sure enough, could not get to the cliffside. Given the swell coming from the east, decided to take the long drive to the eastside and check out Sandys.

Conditions were pretty good, and there were no crowds at all. Ended up bodysurfing a bit, and shooting a lot.

Had to leave early to pick up my folks at the airport. However, the triathlon had far reaching effects, shutting down roads in Hawaii Kai. Ended up racing around Makapu'u, going through Waimanalo and Kailua to get back to Town. Parents had to wait for a long time.

Sometimes detours work out, sometimes they don't. Oh well.
