Words: Work has been mental the past few months. My long-term project has peaked and I think we had a decent amount of success. Hopefully, my work schedule will go back to some semblance of normalcy, although I have a feeling things will never be the same.

I was able to steal away on Sunday and get some water time. Unfortunately, the week's swell had peaked and was down to head-high or less. Such is life.

Was the first one out at micro Pipe/Backdoor. Again did the shortboard thing, having a hard time with all aspects of the ride. Didn't matter. I saw a beautiful moonset, several rainbows, a fully breached whale, many baitfish running from bigger fish, you get the idea. It was so refreshing just being back in the water, connecting with nature, without the heavy burden of work in the back of my mind.

I didn't do so well again, wiping out on more waves that I made. Part of the learning process. Caught a few decent rights that made it all worthwhile.

Took some time to walk the beach to search for some driftwood for my daughter's school project. Always nice to just cruise, at least for a little bit.

Guess surfing after the peak is not so bad after all.

Aloha from Paradise,
