SURF OBSERVATIONS

Backdoor and Pipe were both pretty round

Date: December 30, 2002
Time: 0630-0930 Spot(s): Pipeline/Backdoor
Conditions: Calm to light offshores (east winds), clear skies, and busy crowd
Swell: Slightly rising NW swell
Surf: Somewhat inconsistent 3-4' Haw'n

Words: Still recovering from my cold, I finally got a chance to partake in some wave action. The North Shore was just coming off a lull, so the crowds were thick even in the early morning. Was still fortunate enough to catch a few good ones despite the hungry crowd. Had a very round, overhead tube at Backdoor, slotted within for just a couple of glorious seconds. Also got a much longer tube that closed out on the inside reef. Got squished on one at Backdoor, flattened on the bottom with the reef gently kissing my chin.
